SOUTH ROYALTON, Vt. (AP) – The Vermont National Guard said Wednesday that the family of the late Sgt. Carlton Clark had asked that those wishing memorialize him give blood to the Red Cross or a donation to the local high school’s track and field program.
The 22-year-old U.S. Army sergeant was killed along with two other members of the 101st Airborne Division on Sunday when their Humvee hit a bomb improvised by Iraqi insurgents.
“The Clark family appreciates all of the support they have received,” said the Guard statement. “In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you give blood to your local Red Cross or a donation to the track and field department at South Royalton High School in memory of Carlton.”
