DIXFIELD – The Dixfield Main Street Outdoor Market Committee met recently to assign vendor spots and finalize the schedule of events for Market Day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, rain or shine.

The Dixfield Historical Society will hold its “Antique Road Show” from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19. People with antiques or “hope they’re antique” items may have them appraised for $5 for one or $10 for three.

Market Day will start with registration for the road races between 7:30 and 9:30 a.m. at the Village Green. There will be a one-mile Fun Run/Walk for young people and their companions and a 5K Run/Walk through town for those who would like to try a longer distance. Registration for the Fun Run is $5. Preregistration for the 5K is $12, or $15 on race day. For more information, call Paul Jones at 562-7172.

The Firemen’s Auxiliary will have doughnuts, coffee and juice beginning at 6 a.m. for the benefit of vendors and early arrivals. For a pancake breakfast, visit at the American Legion between 7 and 9 a.m. The Sons of the Legion will sponsor a “Quarter Bingo” from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Live music will begin at the G. Dana Holt Gazebo at 9 a.m. The Arsenault Family Band will play until 11. From 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., new Dixfield resident Sammy Angel will sing and play keyboard.

Many offerings will be available for lunch. A chicken barbecue will be held at the back of the fire station starting at noon, and many other vendors will be available with hot dogs, hamburgers, sausages and lobster rolls.

Vendors will be at their booths from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., offering everything from doll clothes, memorabilia, food, spring water, candy, raffle tickets, collectible items and maple syrup to flea market items. The Legion Auxiliary will have its sale at the Legion Hall.

Vendor spaces are still available and may be purchased until there are no more. A 10×15 foot space costs $15. For more information, call Ralph or Norine at 562-8816 daytime.
