DIXFIELD – All western Maine flower lovers are invited to enter their favorite flowers and plants in the Dixfield Historical Society’s Festival of Flowers Show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, at 63 Main St., using the side entrance.

There is no entry fee, and admission is free to the public. Entries will be received between 1:30 and 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19. Judging will take place at 4 p.m. Saturday at which time ribbons will be awarded for first, second, third, honorable mention and best of show entries. The People’s Choice Award will be made at 2 p.m. Sunday.

The flower and plant classes are as follows: bouquet of wild flowers in a crock or pitcher, bouquet of cut garden flowers, house plant, potted plan or container garden, flowers in a mug or teacup, children 12 years or under: a bouquet in or with a toy or piece of sports equipment, a dried flower arrangement, miniature bouquet less than 4″ high (use a tiny vase), a single flower in bottle or bud vase. Greenery and accessories may be used with all entries.

This year’s flower show marks the fourth year of the event, held in conjunction with the annual Dixfield Outdoor Market.
