NAPLES, Fla. – Hubert Moody, 90, of Naples, Fla., formerly of East Wilton, died early Wednesday evening, Aug. 9, at the Hospice of Naples.
He was born in Farmington, July 21, 1916, a son of Orrison and Lillian (Oakes) Moody and graduated from Farmington High School in 1935.
He worked at various mills in the area, including the Wilton Woolen Mill, and later BD Moore in Farmington. He also worked as a taxi driver for Durward Stowe in Farmington. He and his wife owned and operated the Four Seasons Restaurant in East Wilton prior to their retirement. He built steps and picnic tables and sold them from his home in East Wilton before moving to Florida in 1993.
He enjoyed swimming, which he did every day, and was an avid Red Sox fan. He was also a member of the East Wilton Union Church.
He is survived by his wife, the former Sue Pettengill, whom he married in 1951, in Farmington; their son, Kurt and his wife, Debbie, of Wilton; their daughter, Debbie Sue Prescott and her husband, Victor, of Wayne; his two sons, Lee Moody of Livermore Falls, and Darryl Moody of Florida; a brother, Orrison Moody Jr. of Corrina; grandchildren, Lori Prescott, Jake Wasdin, Kara Moody, Amanda Moody, and Jason Prescott.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Rachel, in 2000.
