LEWISTON – Roger Normand Turcotte, 51, of 15 Pond Road, died unexpectedly on Monday, Aug. 7, shortly upon arrival at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Lewiston on March 29, 1955, the son of Bertrand and Yolande (Gervais) Turcotte. He was educated at St. Peter’s School, was a 1973 graduate of St. Dominic Regional High School and a 1975 graduate of CMVTI.
On June 21, 1975, he married the former Sandra Berube.
He enjoyed working outside, watching the Baltimore Orioles and the Boston Bruins, and playing cards with his dear friends, the Masses and the Boilards. His biggest joy was spoiling and spending time with his children and his granddaughter, Reese, whom he loved with his whole heart.
As his three children grew up, he enjoyed taking part in their activities, serving as Cub Scout leader for Pack 116, coaching in the L&A Youth Soccer League and the South Lewiston Little League and his biggest love, coaching many Holy Cross Tigers hockey teams. He was also past president of the Holy Cross School PFTA and a member of the Philips Elmet Bowling League in the 1980s.
In his younger years, he worked at the Lewiston Sun Journal, Maxam, Inc., at Philips Elmet for 14 years, and was recently employed at Pioneer Plastics since 1993.
Besides his wife of Lewiston, he is survived by a son, Christopher Eric Turcotte and his wife, Melody, of Lewiston; his two daughters, Heather April Turcotte of Lewiston and Erika Dawn Turcotte and her companion, Craig Gardner, of Lewiston; a very precious granddaughter, Reese Lesley Turcotte; and was anxiously awaiting a special grandson, Jordan Taylor Roger Gardner in December; one sister, Michele Greenlee and her husband, Scott, of Auburn; four brothers, Laurier Turcotte and his wife, Wanda, of Peru, Marc Turcotte and his wife, Diane, of Poland, Ron Turcotte and his wife, Karen, of Mechanic Falls and John Turcotte; one sister-in-law, Shirley Daigle of Tucson, Ariz.; a goddaughter, Cassie Turcotte of Hampton, N.H.; and many special nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, his mother and father-in-law, Roland and Leona Berube and his brother-in-law, the Rev. Reginald Daigle.
