FARMINGTON – A Phillips man was indicted Wednesday on multiple charges of gross sexual assault and unlawful sexual contact with a teenager between 2003 and 2006, according to court records.

Marc Carrier, 53, was arrested in January after a 15-year-old girl told school officials he had touched her inappropriately on several occasions over three years.

Detective David St. Laurent of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department said the crimes took place at a house in Avon and alcohol was involved.

“Based on the investigation, these are heinous crimes,” Laurent said Friday. “It’s definitely been traumatizing for the victim.”

A grand jury indicted Carrier on four counts of felony gross sexual assault, and six counts of unlawful sexual contact. He was also indicted on one count of unlawful sexual touching and one count of assault.

If convicted on all charges, Carrier faces more than 100 years in prison.
