It’s not “white privilege,” and hateful attitudes are not confined solely to white people.

The behavior of the people Brenda Akers described is caused by the welfare-entitlement mentality of those who think everything should be handed to them (Aug. 6). FDR was correct when he said welfare is a narcotic that saps the will of the people to care for their own needs.

Calling the other women there Africans perpetuates the Balkanization of this country and it has to stop. They are here in this country so they are now just like the rest of us: Americans.

If her concern is teaching children a proper lesson, how about following the example of my local, white neighbors. They get up and go to work every day.

Maybe the food bank should hand out alarm clocks so they can get up in the morning and find a job. How much pushing and shoving would there be in that line?
