Livermore – A Jay man was killed early Sunday morning in a head-on crash with a tractor-trailer rig on Route 4.

Jonathan Labrecque, 25, was driving his Saturn northbound about 2 a.m. when he failed to navigate a slight curve in the road, Maine State Trooper Keith Frank said Sunday night.

Labrecque drifted over the center line and into the south bound lane, colliding head-on with a tractor-trailer truck.

The truck is owned by New England Recycling, and was driven by Almont Chaffee, 60, of Seekonk, Mass.

Frank said Chaffee attempted to swerve out of the car’s path, but the rig was too big for such a quick maneuver.

“The crash showered the road with car parts and left quite a mess,” Frank said.
