BERLIN, N.H. (AP) – New trails for all-terrain vehicles opened this weekend around Jericho Lake, and the first riders are sending back good reviews.

“There are a lot of nice views and the trails are very nice,” said Kathy Cardinal, of Farmington. “They were very clean and the riding was good, not rough at all.”

About 18 miles of trail have been opened at a new state park that will eventually offer about 250 miles of trail riding over more than 7,200 acres near the White Mountain National Forest.

The president of the Merrimack Valley Trail Riders, Tom Levesque, said the new trails are very much needed.

State officials are continuting work on a master plan for the entire park, which has yet to be named.
