South Paris – George Edward Powers, 73, of South Paris died Monday, Aug. 14, at his home.
He was born in Buckfield on Feb. 14, 1933, the son of Wilford and Mary Turner Powers. He graduated from the Maine School for the Deaf in 1951. He worked with his father on a milk truck before working at Paris Manufacturing, where he retired after 36 years.
He married Rita Buker on Sept. 1, 1956. He was a member of the Lewiston/Auburn Deaf Club and the Streaked Mountain Snowmobile Club in Buckfield. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and camping.
He is survived by his wife, Rita of South Paris; two sons, Gary and Deanna of Otisfield and Dale of South Paris; and two grandchildren, Gary Goodman of South Paris and Crystal Powers of Norway.
