LEWISTON – Irene E. Douglas, 37, of Rosedale Street, Lewiston died Monday, Aug. 14, at Central Maine Medical Center as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on July 22.

She was born in Pensacola, Fla., on Aug. 1, 1969, the daughter of Nancy Johnson. She was educated in the Portland schools and later moved to Lewiston several years ago.

While attending school, she excelled in track and received an award from Joan Benoit-Samuelson for her achievement in the sport.

She loved being outdoors whether it was hiking or rock climbing. She also enjoyed cooking and loved to decorate.

She was gifted in bringing laughter and joy in peoples lives and was an inspiration to all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving husband, James W. Douglas, whom she married on Sept. 15, 2004; her daughter, Nicole Johnson; her sons, Shane Parker, Ralph Mosher and James Johnson; her mother of Biddeford; her sister, Lori Johnson of Biddeford; her brothers, Roger Johnson of Texas and Donny Johnson of Portland; her nieces, Sophia and Kelsey Johnson; her father-in-law, Walter Douglas of Lewiston; mother-in-law, Carolyn Douglas of Auburn; sisters-in-law, Ann Graham of Florida and Tracy Collins of Mechanic Falls; brothers-in-law, Christopher McEachern of Florida and Dave McEachern of Sabattus; and many neices, nephews, aunts and uncles.
