Gray – Barbara Ann Roy, 74, of Youngs Park Road in Mexico, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Aug. 15, while visiting family in Gray.

She was born in Rumford on Feb. 9, 1932, a daughter of Lillian Canwell.

She was educated in Mexico schools and was a graduate of Mexico High School.

She was employed for several years with Diamond Match Co. and later as a counselor at “Horizons” in Rumford.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, but especially loved sitting on her son and daughter-in-law’s back porch watching the wildlife. She also loved shopping at Wal-Mart.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Everett R. Roy of Mexico; two sons, Robert J. Roy and wife, Tina, of Mexico and Darin E. Roy and wife, Katrina, of Livermore Falls; two daughters, Bonnie K. Johnson and husband, Steve, of Gray and Lori Ann Roy of Mexico; three sisters, Shirley Taylor of Lewiston, Donna Haley and husband, Edward, of Minot and Betty Murphy of Rumford; a brother, Paul Luce and wife, Margie, of Lewiston; five grandchildren, Joe Bedard and wife, Amy, Andy Bedard and wife, Melinda, Tara Burgess and husband, Brandon, Evrit Roy and Egan Roy; four great-grandchildren, Zachary Burgess, Kassi-Jo Burgess, Kylie Bedard and William Bedard.

She was predeceased by her mother, Lillian Canwell.
