WINTHROP – Camp Ray of Hope will be held at Camp Mechuwana, Friday through Sunday, Sept. 15 to 17. The annual weekend retreat is for Maine families and individuals who have experienced the death of a significant person in their lives.

Attendees are given opportunities to network with other people from throughout the state who are also in the midst of transition from loss by death. Children and adults participate with their peers in support groups and workshops that encourage healthy outlets and self-care.

Campers can also fish, canoe and enjoy surroundings that are peaceful and unspoiled. Massage therapists, Reiki practitioners, reflexologists and other complementary care providers donate sessions.

Camp Ray of Hope was first offered by Hospice Volunteers of Waterville Area in 1995 and continues to be the only one of its kind in Maine. Applicants from throughout the state are considered. Cost is $50 a person or $150 for a family of three or more.

Some scholarship money is available. Donations for scholarships are accepted. Call 873-3615 or e-mail hospiceinfo@hvwa.org with questions or to request a brochure and registration form. Visit the web at www.hvwa.org.
