Rumford – Joyce Hazel Swan, 78, of Route 2 in Rumford, died quietly at her home on Aug. 15.
She was born on Feb. 24, 1928, in Bingham, the daughter of Ralph and Kathleen Spencer.
She graduated from Stephens High School in Rumford, Class of 1946.
She married Henry E. Swan in 1947 in Rumford.
She loved golfing, fishing, doll making, painting and sewing, but her biggest love was her husband and her family. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her sons, Gary Swan of Juneau, Alaska, Terry Swan and wife, Sandy, of Exeter, N.H., Jody Swan of Olympia, Wash., Tim Swan and wife, Evelyn, of Rumford and Robert Swan and wife, Barbara, of Palmer, Alaska; her sisters, June Gallant of Mexico, Cynthia Davis of New Jersey, Heather Lindwall of Jay and Mary Arnott and husband, Bill, of Keene, N.H.; a brother, Jim Irish and wife, Pauline, of Lewiston; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Henry E. Swan; two sons, Allan O. Swan and Ralph F. Swan; a brother, Raymond Spencer; and a sister, Joanne.
