BRUNSWICK – Julia Gaudet stepped into the presence of the Lord on Aug. 16.

She was born the daughter of Arthur and Mary Michaud in Patten, on Oct. 12, 1927, ahe grew up – like most of her generation – in difficult times.

She was a courageous yet gentle woman with a love for life and a gift of humor. Although she had her share of life’s challenges – and life-threatening challenges – she always came through stronger and more determined.

She may be best remembered as an active woman who loved cooking, canning, crafts, decorating, games, travel, storytelling and the company of her dogs and cats past and present. Her legacy will be that she worked hard to raise four children to be decent, caring and hardworking. Never shy to express herself, she was always fair to all points of view. Her presence was unmistakable and will be greatly missed. Seeking her spiritual side later in life gave her comfort for the difficulties which lay ahead.

She leaves behind her brother, Gilbert Chaloux and wife, Joyce and their son, Barry of Titusville, Fla.; sons, Gordon Strait and wife, Virginia, of Frostproof, Fla., Glenn Strait and wife, Lillian, of Pownal and Gilbert Strait of Auburn; daughter, Mary Ellen Gibson and husband, Leslie, of Lisbon; grandchildren, John, Robert, Heather and Tabitha Strait, Nick and Melanie Strait, Heidi and Lindsay Strait and Katelyn Gibson; and great-grandchildren, Riley, Ethan and Haley Cassidy, Sabrina Strait, Kelsey and Gabrielle Damon and Ivory and Nitacia Strait; and a legion of loving nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.

She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald Gaudet.
