Auburn – Laureat A. Robitaille, 90, of Lisbon passed away on Aug. 18, with his loving family by his side.

He was born in Lewiston on June 4, 1916, a son of the late Joseph and Arzelie (Gastonguay) Robitaille.

He was educated in local schools and then went on to serve his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After returning from the service, he met and married his best friend and soul mate, Cecile (Dubois) Robitaille on June 26, 1937. He worked for Roy Bros. Inc. and Sanborn Express as a truck driver until his retirement in 1976.

He was a former member of the American Legion Post 22 of Lewiston and a lifetime member of the V.F.W; the Holy Cross Senior Citizens, Holy Cross Parish and now a member of the Holy Trinity Parish. His greatest joy in life was his family; he always put them first and was very devoted to them. He also greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing for many years; and loved spending time at his camp on Dexter Pond in Winthrop.

He is survived by his six sons and their spouses, Marcel of Winthrop, Gerard and wife, Joan, of Lisbon, George and wife, Barbara, of Lisbon, Larry and wife, Paula, of Lisbon, Dave and wife, Susan, of Lewiston and Daniel and fiance, Cathy, of Lewiston; a son-in-law, Larry Mathieu of Lewiston; two sisters and a brother, Carmen Berube of Auburn, Muriel Begert and Lionel Robitaille, both of Lewiston; his 17 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents; his loving wife, Cecile; his two daughters, Diane Robitaille and Doris Mathieu; and several brothers and sisters.

A heart felt appreciation from Laureat’s family is extended to the physicians and staff at the Odd Fellows Home and the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion shown to Laureat and his family.
