AUBURN – Robert C. Drouin, 78, a resident of 188 Lane Road, Auburn, died early Thursday, Aug. 17, at the Androscoggin Hospice House after a long courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
He was born in Lewiston, Sept. 15, 1927, the son of a former Lewiston Fire Chief Zepherin Drouin and his wife, Rose (Dufour) Drouin.
He was a member of St. Louis Church, and was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was employed in the local shoe industry most of his life. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and was a great father and husband who enjoyed his home in Auburn, “on the golf course.”
Survivors include one son, Gerard Drouin and his partner, Maddy, of Auburn; one daughter, Suzanne Remillard and her husband, Raymond, of Lewiston; three sisters, Jacqueline Provencher and Therese Ouellette, both of Lewiston and Claire Howard of Rhode Island; three grandchildren, Tina Anctil, Tammy Marshall and Ben Drouin; and one great-granddaughter, Mallory Marshall.
He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Lucille; two brothers, Louis and Marcel; and one sister, Geraldine.
