LEWISTON – Bruce W. Fickett, 64, of Mechanic Falls, died Friday, Aug. 18. He stepped into the presence of His Lord after a courageous battle with cancer, and the prayer of a dear friend, Randy LaClaire of Poland, with his wife and family by his side.

He was born in Bridgton on July 18, 1942, the son of Ernest H. and Julia Snow-Fickett. He was educated in Pownal and New Gloucester school systems.

Upon graduation from high school, he served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. There, he worked at company headquarters and went on resupply missions.

He married the former Deanna E. Duchette on Dec. 2, 1989.

He was employed by Blue Cross and Blue Shield until his retirement.

He was a member of the Poland Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee and a helper with the Giants of Faith Ministry.

He is survived by his wife, Deanna Fickett of Mechanic Falls; his sisters, Barbara Bryant of Auburn, Patricia Rogers of New Gloucester, Marilyn and her husband, Roger Tripp, of New Gloucester, and Clara and her husband, Dean Neal, of New Gloucester; one brother, Roger Fickett and his wife, Denise, of Sabattus; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; and three brothers, David, Donald, and Robert.
