NASHUA, N.H. (AP) – A local man died Sunday morning after his car went off an exit ramp on the Everett Turnpike and hit trees.

State police identified the driver as Michael Forrest, 26. They said he was alone in the car when it crashed just before 2 a.m. Police said Forrest was heading south and entered the off ramp at exit eight but failed to navigate the turn. According to police, the car slid, hit a tree and then spun into other trees. Witnesses told police the car was going very fast prior to the crash.

State police say the accident remains under investigation but that speed appears to have been a factor.
