POLAND – The annual Polland family reunion was held on Aug. 16, at Range Pond State Park. Seventy-nine people attended.
There was barbecuing, camping, water sports, volleyball, horseshoes and card games. Ella Carleton of Farmington, at 11 months, was the youngest, and Kenneth Hodgdon of Portage Lake, who is the eldest of family, traveled the farthest. Overnight stays with relatives lengthened the reunion.
New births recorded this year were three, all in the Morse family: Morgan Boynton of Readfield, born Aug. 23, 2005; Hunter Swift of Litchfield, born Oct. 13; and Madison Boynton of Augusta, born Nov. 4. The death of George C. Morse of Wellesley, Mass., on April 26, 2005, was noted by a moment of silence.
A round of applause was given to John Hall of Wells for preparing the site and volunteering to do the same next year.
Alton Arsenault of Carthage named Kathleen Ceppetelli of Broad Brook, Conn., the new president, and Cynthia Pettengill of Fayette will continue as secretary/treasurer for another year.
Next year’s reunion will be held on Sunday, Aug. 12, at Range Pond State Park.
