Additon
HEBRON – The Additon family held its 76th reunion on Aug. 13 at the Hebron Pines Campground. Those attending are descendants of Thomas and Anna (Beals) Additon, who married in Leeds in 1821.
The oldest person present was Harold Meade of Bridgton, 93. The youngest was Annabelle Christine Keller, born Dec. 29, 2005, daughter of Katelin Tabor and Stuart Keller of Greene.
Craig Meade of Hayden, Colo., and Marcia Troyer of Boulder, Colo., traveled the greatest distance. Other states represented were Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Massachusetts and Maine.
Family members reported five births and four marriages. A resolution was adopted in memory of Laura M. Hodgkin of Lewiston and Cape Elizabeth.
Lorri A. Pelletier of Greene presided at the business meeting, with 52 in attendance. Officers elected for 2007 were Connie Foster of Litchfield, president; Lorri A. Pelletier of Greene, vice president; Douglas Hodgkin of Lewiston, secretary; and Donald Smith of Wellesley, Mass., treasurer.
Members of the Finance Committee are Errol Additon of Leeds, Elise Hodgkin of Yarmouth and Sybil Smith of Wellesley, Mass. The Resolutions Committee for 2007 is Jill Freda of Leeds and Valerie Trantanella of Westford, Mass.
After the potluck dinner and the business meeting, Marcia Troyer of Boulder, Colo., won the raffle for a homemade quilt.
Polland
POLAND – The annual Polland family reunion was held on Aug. 16, at Range Pond State Park. Seventy-nine people attended.
There was barbecuing, camping, water sports, volleyball, horseshoes and card games. Ella Carleton of Farmington, at 11 months, was the youngest, and Kenneth Hodgdon of Portage Lake, who is the eldest of family, traveled the farthest.
New births recorded this year were three, all in the Morse family: Morgan Boynton of Readfield, born Aug. 23, 2005; Hunter Swift of Litchfield, born Oct. 13; and Madison Boynton of Augusta, born Nov. 4. The death of George C. Morse of Wellesley, Mass., on April 26, 2005, was noted by a moment of silence.
A round of applause was given to John Hall of Wells for preparing the site and volunteering to do the same next year.
Alton Arsenault of Carthage named Kathleen Ceppetelli of Broad Brook, Conn., the new president, and Cynthia Pettengill of Fayette will continue as secretary/treasurer.
Next year’s reunion will be held on Sunday, Aug. 12, at Range Pond State Park.
Chateauvert
GREENE – Descendants of Henry and Elodie Chateauvert met at the home of Janice Brewer on Aug. 5. More than 100 family members attended a potluck lunch.
The family’s singer, Tony Brewer, sang several songs and George Farris Jr. played his accordion. A silent auction took place, as well as a few games like the spoon game and watermelon race.
Karen Flagg crafted a 2006 reunion quilt from quilt blocks decorated by family members. It was raffled and the winner was Abby Stevens, granddaughter of Karen Flagg.
Lisa Brewer and Carol Buzzell will prepare a recipe booklet of the family’s favorite dishes. Recognition certificates were presented by Carol Buzzell to Hunter William Morris, 36 days old, the youngest family member present; Ruth Stowe, over 80, oldest family member; Richard Chateauvert, member with the most children, five; Clayton and Glenice Bubier, most grandchildren, 12, and the most great-grandchildren, 11; Ray and Dorothy Buckley, the couple married the longest, 58 years; Lee and Jayna Verrill, the couple married the shortest time, four years; and Shawn and Kathy Buckley, the couple who traveled the farthest, Texas.
Family came from all around Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York and Texas.
