LEWISTON – The Downtown Neighborhood Association will be holding its eighth annual – and final – school bag and supply giveaway from 1 to 5 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, Aug. 24 and 25, at the B Street Community Center on Birch Street.

Supplies will be distributed by appointment only because there are a limited numbers available. No walk-ins permitted.

According to organizer Dot Treadwell, the Downtown Neighborhood Association “has made great strides in developing community and neighborhood pride in the downtown area.”

She said, “we want to make sure the children in need have school supplies to start the school year.”
