AUBURN – Tax bills should start being mailed out in the next two weeks after the City Council approved the final tax commitment Monday.

Councilors approved the fiscal year 2006-07 budget in June and decided to phase in new property values in July. Monday’s action was the final step in the budget process.

Councilors set the property tax rate at $24.35 for each $1,000 of value. That would mean a tax bill of $2,922 on a $120,000 home.

Property tax bills should all be mailed by Sept. 7.

The first half of real estate taxes are due by Oct. 18. The second half is due on March 15.

Personal property taxes on business equipment and supplies are due on Sept. 18.
