BOSTON – Dorothy “Jane” (Dutton) Simonton, 79, died on Monday, Aug. 21, at the Massachusetts General Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Richard H. Simonton.

She was born July 27, 1927, in Winthrop and a lifelong resident of Revere. She was the daughter of the late Charles C. and Dorothy (Dow) Simonton. A summer resident of Monmouth for many years, she was an active member of the community. She was a former PTA president, a deaconess of the First Congregational Church of Revere, a member of the Eastern Star and a former member of the Rainbow Girls. She also volunteered for many years with the Revere League for Special Needs.

She is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Simonton of Wisconsin; four sons, Russell Simonton of New York, Douglas Simonton of Winthrop, Norman Simonton of Peabody, Kenneth Simonton of Revere; nine grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her brother, Carlton Dutton.
