AUBURN – Motor Home put on a tremendous comeback to gain a 19-18 win over Melanson-Webber Club in a playoff elimination game waged Wednesday. Trailing 16-6 entering the last of the 6th, Motor Home rallied for 11 runs to take a 17-16 lead. Melanson-Webber struck for 2 runs in the top of the 7th to regain the lead, 18-17. In the last of the 7th, Dave Langlois hit a bloop single and Earl Gardner followed with an “Ortiz-like” walk-off homer to provide Motor Home with the thrilling victory.
Two elimination games were slated to be played Thursday night, Meineke Car Care vs Gritty’s, and E.S.M. vs Motor Home.
Two more contests are set for Monday at Pettengill. At 6 o’clock, Thursday’s winners will clash in an elimination tilt. The only 2 unbeaten teams left, Hart Transportation and Major Automotive, will meet at 7:30. Tuesday at 7:00 at Pettengill, the loser of Hart-Major Automotive will meet the losers’ bracket survivor. A championship round game is slated for Wednesday at 7:00 at Pettengill. The “if” game is scheduled for Thursday at Pettengill at 7:00.
Lewiston Men’s League
LEWISTON – The National League playoff finals are set. It’ll be Health Club/Buddy T’s (4) taking on BT Pallet (2) in a best-of-3 series for the championship. Game 1 is scheduled for Monday night at 6 o’clock at Randall-1. In playoff action Wednesday, BT Pallet defeated Import Auto Plus 18-6 to win the series 2-0. And Health Club/Buddy T’s shocked Gipper’s-White Rock (1), winning the series 2-1.
In the American League playoffs Wednesday, Allaire Construction (2) evened is series with Ducharme (3) with a 6-1 victory. The deciding third game was to be waged Thursday night. Poland Spring (1) has already advanced to the American League finals having swept Varsity Lettering (4) in 2 straight games.
Both the National and American League finals are scheduled for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 6 o’clock at the Randall Road complex.
