WASHINGTON, N.C. – The wedding of Christa Ann Lagrange and James C. Smith III was held at 2 p.m. on May 20 at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Washington, N.C. Pastor Ken Cash officiated at the ceremony.

Mrs. Smith is the daughter of Donald G. Lagrange of Auburn and Susan L. Goodwin of Auburn. Mr. Smith is the son of Rita Whitaker Dickinson of Chocowinity, N.C., and James C. Smith Jr. of Washington, N.C.

The bride, given in marriage by David Lagrange, wore a white peau de soie tank-style gown with A-line skirt and the bodice featured a floral motif embellished with crystals, clear sequins and seed pearls. The bottom of the gown featured a matching floral border also with crystals, sequins and pearls. The scoop back featured covered buttons which followed into a chapel length train which was adorned with matching floral appliqués. She carried a bouquet of white daisies and blue delphiniums.

Pianist was Vickie Oliver, and soloist was Bonnie Landeck. The church was decorated with ferns, ivy, daisies, roses and two heart-shaped candelabras.

Karen Quirk was matron of honor for her friend, and bridesmaids were Emilie Elks Pendley, Regina Elks and Jessica Skiles, friends. Courtney Leggett, niece, was flower girl.

James C. Smith Jr. performed the duties of best man for his son, and ushers were Tommy Pendley, Charlie Elks, Stephen Harding, Tom Bonner and Jason Boivin, friends. Nicholas Jones, nephew, was ring bearer.

A reception followed at the Family Life Center at Free Will Baptist Church in Washington, N.C. The hall was decorated with white candles, mirrors, sparkling lights and an arbor bench, decorated with ivy and flowers. A memorial table was set to honor deceased grandparents, Gerard Lagrange, Fernande Bissonette, James S. Smith Sr. and Redden and Bessie Whitaker. Surviving grandparents attending were Anne S. Lagrange and Dorothy Smith. A three-tier cake with fountain and white daisies was served.

Following a wedding trip to Atlantic Beach, N.C., the couple is residing in Chocowinity, N.C.

The bride attended Edward Little High School, then went on to graduate from Brewer High School in 2002. She is intermediate EMT at Tarheel Medical Transport in Washington, N.C., and is also a volunteer firefighter and EMT for the Chocowinity Fire Dept.

The bridegroom attended Southside High School in Chocowinity, N.C., and graduated from Lewiston High School Adult Education in 2005. He is employed as a corrections officer for the Craven County Correctional Institution, and is also a volunteer firefighter for the Chocowinity Fire Dept.
