PORTLAND – Robert L. Paradis, 82, of Chamberlain Avenue, Brunswick, died Saturday, Aug. 26, at Maine Medical Center.

He was born in Auburn, Oct. 7, 1923, the son of Alcide and Eva Raymond Paradis. At the age of five he moved to Brunswick, where he attended St. John’s Parochial school and Brunswick High School.

He served in the Navy during World War II from 1943 to 1946.

On July 5, 1947, he married Annette Beaulieu.

For several years he worked at the Cabot and Verney Mill until its closing in 1955.

From 1955 until retiring in 1985, he worked for Brunswick Coal and Lumber.

He was a 20 year Bowdoin College Track Official and track coach helping during their practices. In May of 2006, he received the Bowdoin College Polar Bear Award for service to the Athletic Department. He was a past Grand Knight and 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus Sekenger Council and a member of the American Legion Post 202 in Topsham.

Surviving besides his wife of Brunswick, is a son, Ronald R. Paradis of Brunswick.
