APOPKA, Fla. – Wesley Newton, a long time resident of Florida died Aug. 24, at the Vitas Hospice Center.
He was the son of the late Floyd and Rose Newton. He was born in Mexico, on April 12, 1916. He was educated in Mexico schools and graduated from Mexico High School. He married Estelle Sanborn of Monmouth on Nov. 30, 1939. He worked for Gayton and Crowley Chevrolet in Lewiston before moving to St. Petersburg, Fla. in 1940. He established his own business, Newton’s Auto Service.
After retirement he moved to Orlando, where he continued to tinker in his workshop until December 2005. He and his wife spent the summers for many years in Monmouth, where they enjoyed growing vegetables to take home to share with their family. He showed his family beautiful things in this world and his family is thankful for the wonderful and active life that he and his wife provided. They taught them how to work hard and how to play hard, and how to appreciated the opportunities they have and the very special people and things around them.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years; a son, Jerry and his wife, Linda, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a daughter, Pat and her husband, Robert Rope, of Orlando, Fla.; five great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Donald and Burchard.
