PORTLAND (AP) – A suspect in last month’s fatal shooting in Boston of a 19-year-old woman at a makeshift shrine to her slain brother was apprehended Tuesday after a tense standoff at a home near the University of Southern Maine.

Laron Lewis Richardson, 18, of Boston’s Jamaica Plain section surrendered and was taken into custody after police evacuated the neighborhood and surrounded the building, police said.

Boston police identified Richardson as one of two men facing charges in connection with the July 22 shooting of Analicia Perry as she lit candles at the memorial at the same intersection where her brother, Robert Perry, was killed four years ago.

A suspect in that slaying was reportedly found, but days later he was himself shot to death.

A task force investigating Analicia Perry’s murder had tracked Richardson to Biddeford and then to Portland. Investigators had planned to question residents of the Portland home about the suspect’s whereabouts when they spotted him inside the dwelling.

Another man linked to the slaying, Steven Sayles, 19, surrendered Monday in Boston. Sayles was ordered held on $350,000 cash bail after pleading not guilty to a charge of being an accessory after the fact to murder.

Perry, who had a 4-year-old daughter, was a graduate of North Cambridge Catholic High School and had planned to attend Quincy College to study nursing, friends said.
