LEWISTON – Lewiston Adult Education will conduct fitness classes this fall. A limited number of spaces are available in the following sessions, and registrations are being accepted at the Adult Education office in Lewiston High School, by phone at 795-4141 and on-line at www.lewistonadulted.org.
“A Flexible Body, A Flexible Life”: Learn techniques that will keep the body flexible and supple. Focus will be on breathing, lengthening muscle groups and developing an at-home plan to enhance class time. Instructor will be Bette Swett-Thibeault. The class will start Wednesday, Sept. 13, for eight weeks.
Yoga: Get an introduction to this alternative form of exercise that can be used to manage stress. Explore basic positions, breathing and the benefits of stretching. Instructor will be Krishan Verma and the class will start Tuesday, Sept. 12, for six weeks.
Tai chi: An introduction to the basic movements of the ancient art. It is a moving meditation designed to promote wellness and increase relaxation. Instructor will be Peter Hutchinson. The class will start Thursday, Sept. 14, for 10 weeks.
“Get Fit!”: Create a fitness plan with help from a certified trainer. Focus on diet and fitness goals while learning to properly use fitness equipment. Group and one-on-one instruction. Instructor will be Dan Gish. The sessions will start Tuesday, Nov. 2, for four weeks The class will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays.
