Seniors trip

LITCHFIELD – The Litchfield Senior Center will take a group of seniors to the Lifestyle Senior Expo at the Augusta Civic Center on Friday, Sept. 15.

The Lifestyle Expo is put on by Senior Spectrum to assist people of all ages to stay healthy, active and engaged with the communities in which they live. There will be health screenings and exhibitors.

Sign up at the Litchfield Senior Center where free tickets will be available, otherwise the price is $3 at the door. The bus will leave from St. Leo’s parking lot at 9:15 a.m.

La Survivance

LEWISTON – Roger Bouffard will entertain members of La Survivance Franaise in a French sing-along at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, in the Seniors Room at the Multi-Purpose Center. Officers for the year will be installed prior to the program. Members are encouraged to attend, and new members are always welcome. Refreshments will be served.

Film showing

LEWISTON – Maine Veterans for Peace Chapter 001 will host a showing of “Interviews Exposing 9/11 Lies” at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, in Room 170C, Lewiston-Auburn College, Westminster Street. Discussion of the film will be followed by the monthly business meeting at 7:30 p.m. For more information, call Doug Rawlings at 778-7292.

Lodge pig roast

MECHANIC FALLS – Tyrian Masonic Lodge 73 will hold a community pig roast and barbecue from 3 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at the lodge, Route 11.

The event will feature roast pig, corn on the cob, potato salad, baked beans and beverages. The cost will be $8 for adults and $3 for children under 12.

Tickets can be purchased at NAPA Auto Parts in Mechanic Falls, through any officer of Tyrian Lodge or by calling Eugene Chandler at 345-9579. Tickets will also be available at the door, but seating will be limited.

Screenings set

LEWISTON – Life Line screening will be at the Thomas Memorial Baptist Church, 62 Strawberry Ave., on Monday, Sept. 11. Appointments will begin at 10 a.m.

Screenings involve the use of ultrasound technology and scan for potential health problems related to blocked arteries, which can lead to a stroke; aortic aneurysms, which can lead to a ruptured aorta; and hardening of the arteries in the legs, which are a predictor of heart disease. Also offered is a bone density screening to assess risk for osteoporosis.

Each screening requires 10 minutes or less to complete. A vascular screening package is $109; a vascular package with osteoporosis screening is $129.
