INDUSTRY – George Forrest Martin, 80, of Industry, died Tuesday, Aug. 29, at his home.
He was born May 29, 1926, in Boston, the son of George F. and Mary A. (Mahady) Martin. He was educated in the schools of Boston. In 1952, he married Edith B. Brown in Needham, Mass. She died in 2003. He worked as a professional engineer managing projects for mechanical contractors.
He was also an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Sierra Club, a life-member of the Reading, Mass. Rifle & Revolver Club, the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine and the NRA. He enjoyed hunting, woodworking and was an avid reader.
He is survived by nieces and nephews, Nancy and Charles Soltes, William and Bonnie Martin, Maryalice Byrnes, Edward and Donna Byrnes, Kathryn and Saul Mazur; and several great-nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Edith; sisters, Norma Byrnes Fitch and Dorothy Hillman Martin; and a brother, Robert Martin.
