LEWISTON – The Jesus Party Pentecostal Kids’ Church, a domestic nonprofit faith-based urban youth outreach, has announced its September schedule of events, open for all inner city children in kindergarten and up.

“Fruit and Veggie Night” will be held at 6 p.m. Fridays during September. The night will focus on promoting healthy eating habits and spiritual wellness. Doug and Sonia Taylor, ministry directors, will teach about the “Fruits of the Spirit,” examining the subjects of love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance.

Visual aids, such as a flannel graph, “Veggie-Tale” videos and fresh fruits and vegetables, will be used to help reinforce the virtues.

Children will observe Patriot’s Day at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, by singing patriotic hymns and commemorating the events that took place Sept. 11, 2001. Children will view a video concerning the tragic events as well as the tributes that followed. Breakfast will be served to all children who attend.

Children will have an opportunity to visit Apple Ridge Farms in Auburn on Saturday, Sept. 23. The day will consist of apple picking, cider sipping, animal petting and a Biblical application of the story of “Adam and Eve and the Forbidden Fruit.”

All activities and events begin or take place at the ministry’s headquarters located at 291 Bates St. For more information or placement of a child, call 786-5568. Rides are available.
