I think that we should recognize another great job done this year by the board of directors that organized the balloon festival and all the volunteers who made it work.
There was fantastic weather on Friday and Saturday, and all the activities went off like clockwork. The citizens of Lewiston and Auburn should be proud of this quality festival that showcases the Twin Cities each year.
As a representative of one of the nonprofit groups that benefit each year from this chance to raise money, I appreciated the way the committee had the foresight on Saturday night to call off Sunday’s activities after looking at the forecast.
The last couple of years it has not been a pleasant experience sitting in a wet booth trying to sell to a nonexistent crowd while it rained all day. I understand the members of the committee received some criticism about their decision, but I was grateful for the chance to pack up Saturday before it rained.
Thanks again for a great balloon festival.
