AMBLER, Penn. – Christine LaBelle scored the game-winning goal in the 18th minute as Maine cruised to a 3-0 shutout over Temple in women’s soccer action Friday.

The Black Bears (2-0-1) dominated on offense, outpacing the Owls (1-3) in shots by a margin of 13-to-7. Natalie Berry netted the second goal of the first half for Maine at the 44:26 mark.

Marie Andree Canuel capped the scoring with a goal in the 72nd minute for the Black Bears.

Jasmine Phillips made four stops in goal for Maine, while Liz Tarasevich and Tiffany Kasunich shared keeper duties for Temple with three and one save respectively in the losing effort.

Gordon 4, USM 1

WENHAM, Mass. – Sarah Orlando scored a pair of goals in the second half to lead Gordon past Southern Maine by a 4-1 margin in women’s field hockey Friday.

Gordon (1-0) scored all four goals after the intermission and led 4-0. Whitney Plaster and Tori Blandin added single tallies before Alyssa Kraus broke the ice for the Huskies (0-1).

Chyanne Wilson made 13 saves for the Fighting Scots. Allie Hill made 12 saves.
