OXFORD – Many Republicans, candidates and their supporters gathered under decorated tents on Aug. 26 at the home of Ted and Eleanor Heidrich. There was accordion music and food.
The party honored Sen. Chandler Woodcock, candidate for governor. He and Mrs. Woodcock stopped by to cheer on fellow Republican candidates.
Among those attending were representatives from Sens. Snowe and Collins, Rep. and Mrs. Jim Hamper, Rep. and Mrs. Tom Shields, Rep. and Mrs. Arlan Jodrey, Rep. Bruce Hanley, Rep. Randy Hotham, Rep.and Mrs. Richard Sykes, Sen. Lois Snowe-Mello, Sheriff Lloyd Herrick, Registrar of Probate and Mrs Tom Winsor and County Commissioner Steve Merrill.
Candidates for state offices present were Len Greaney, candidate for Senate District 14, and Paula Smith, candidate for House District 92. Candidates for county offices present were Norm Ferguson, county treasurer, Cauldie Jackson, county commissioner, and Chris Wainwright, sheriff.
Other noted guests were Erlon Jones, chairman, Oxford County Republican Committee, and Dr. Stanley Howe, Rosemary Butler and Becky Kindall, State Committee members. More than 100 other guests were there, with former Senate President Rick Bennett serving as Master of Ceremonies.
