BERLIN, N.H. – Gilberte G. (Hamel) Sirois-Chabot, 91, passed away in the early afternoon hours of Sunday, Sept. 3, at the St. Vincent DePaul Healthcare Center, where she had been residing since 1998.

She was born in Berlin on Dec. 30, 1914, the daughter of the late Philias and Sarah (Montminy) Hamel.

She attended Angel Guardian School and later moved to Lewiston, where she lived for 25 years.

While living in Lewiston, she was employed as a cleaning lady for area banks. She returned to Berlin in 1976.

She was a longtime member of Guardian Angel Parish, now known as St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish. She enjoyed reading and cooking, and loved to go shopping and listen to her French music.

She is survived by her brother, Lawrence Hamel and his wife, Cecile, of Berlin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by both of her parents; her first husband, Edward Sirois; her second husband, Antoine Chabot; five brothers; and her three sisters.
