Lewiston – Irene B. Pelletier, 92, longtime resident of Webber Avenue in Lewiston, and a resident of Bolster Assisted Living for the past three years, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday Sept. 3. She passed peacefully with her family and Bishop Roland Jacques by her side.
She was born in Fort Kent May 24, 1914, to Joseph and Fabriene (Pelletier) Boucher. She first worked as a cook and baker for lumberjack camps and later worked many years in local textile mills until her retirement. She was a devoted member of Holy Cross Parish and for many years gave her time and love as she knitted many, many items for the homeless and charities.
She also loved dancing and music. During her stay at Bolster, she enjoyed the company of her many friends and enjoyed the many visits from her family and also her granddaughter Melanie’s dog “Sophie.” She also loved the times when her daughter Thelma would come over to sing and entertain her and the other residents.
In addition, while at Bolster, she attended Bishop Jacques’ Mass faithfully every Monday. She was a devoted Mom and Memere, as her family was her whole life and was an independent lady who lived her life with dignity and strength.
She leaves her only child, Thelma Manson of Lewiston; two granddaughters, Melanie Therrien and husband, Glenn, of Auburn and Tiffany Manson of Lewiston; a step-great-grandson, Dylon Therrien; and three sisters, Nora of Connecticut, Bernice of Fort Kent and Eva, also of Fort Kent.
