Heywood Club

NORWAY – The Heywood Club will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11, at the clubhouse. The agenda will include reports on summer activities as well as developing plans for coming meetings and events.

Judy James will share information on her trip to help Katrina victims.

Members are encouraged to invite neighbors who do not usually attend. To arrange for a ride, call 743-2570.

Scrapbook day

WEST PARIS – A scrapbooking day will be held from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at the Agnes Gray School. There will be demonstrations, door prizes and a silent auction.

Bee Scrappy with Rhonda and Melissa and Creative Memories with Dixie Inman will have scrapbooking supplies and they will give demonstrations. Becky Kostovick of Stamping Up will lead a session in making items to take home.

Food and drink will be available for purchase. Proceeds will go toward the purchase of the new veterans’ monument being dedicated on Nov. 11, Veterans’ Day.

Schools open

WEST PARIS – The Agnes L. Gray and Legion Memorial schools year has gotten off to a good start, said Principal Melanie Ellsworth.

New playground equipment has been ordered for the Memorial School and will arrive shortly.

There is a new flagpole in front of the Gray School, courtesy of Boy Scout Nicholas Diconzo Jr. who is earning his Eagle Scout Badge. The new flag will be arrive soon. On Friday, Sept. 15, school pictures will be taken at the Gray School.

Sunday school

WEST PARIS – The West Paris Baptist Church has announced the beginning of a new year for Sunday school on Sunday, Sept. 17. Tater Tots is for age 2 and 3; pre-primary, ages 4 to kindergarten; juniors, grades one to 12; adults, ages 18 and up.

Sunday school will begin at 10:25 a.m. for all ages, with a puppet show, refreshments, songs and rehearsal for the Christmas pageant that will be presented in December. Classes for juniors and adults will be held afterward, with day care available for younger children and for parents attending the adult class. Classes will end at 11:45 a.m.
