POLAND – McKenzie Cook drilled a shot into the net late in the second half to lift Poland to a 3-2 victory over Wells.

The victory was Poland’s first victory at the varsity level in three seasons.

Matt Whalen and Richard Griffith also tallied for the Knights (1-1), while Matt Mocciola made 13 saves in net.

The Warriors received goals from Craig Burnell and Josh Tufts. Scott Ramsdell turned away six shots in net for Wells.

Telstar 8, Livermore Falls 2

BETHEL – Max Meader registered a hat trick Tuesday to pace Telstar to a 8-2 romp over Livermore Falls.

Chris Schwartz and Mike Fleet chipped in with two goals each for the Rebels (2-0), while Louis Thornton’s single tally completed the scoring. Kevin Gallagher made five saves for Telstar.

The Andies were paced by Matt Cotnoir and Tom Ventrella with one goal each. Marcus Ryder turned away 12 shots.

Hall-Dale 5, Jay 3

JAY – Oryan Lahti scored all five goals to lead Hall-Dale to a come-from-behind 5-3 triumph over Jay.

James McLamb and Dylan Stefani scored a goal each in the first half to put the Tigers (1-1) up 2-1. Despite a tight beginning, the Bulldogs (1-1) capitalized on a couple of breakaways in the second half to create a bit of momentum down the stretch.

Cameron Frye made 10 saves for Jay, while Pat Koenig stopped 11 for Hall-Dale.

Dirigo 2, Carrabec 0

DIXFIELD – Jeff Willis and Nick Howe both registered goals Tuesday as Dirigo defeated Carrabec 2-0 in MVC soccer action.

Colby Knapp added an assist for the Cougars (2-0) on Howe’s tally. Josh Saphire made 11 saves in net to notch the win.

Ugo Liberti handled netkeeping duties for the Cobras (0-1), turning aside 13 shots.

Lewiston 8, Gardiner 0

GARDINER – Husayne Carnegie netted four goals Tuesday to lead Lewiston to a 8-0 rout over Gardiner.

Hossaine Naji chipped in with two goals for the Blue Devils (1-1), while single goals by Christian Ouellette and Kyle Dussault completed the scoring. Tobias Farnsworth needed only three saves in net to preserve the shutout.

Pat Kimball handled netkeeping duties for the Tigers (0-2), turning aside 11 shots.

Wiscasset 1, Monmouth 0

WISCASSET – Scott James picked up a loose ball off a corner kick and scored to lead Wiscasset to a 1-0 victory over Monmouth in MVC boys’ soccer action.

The Mustangs (0-2) played a very good defensive game, but the Redskins squeezed out a 1-0 advantage at the half and held on. The goal came on a corner kick that bounced off of three players, before James booted the ball into the back of the net.

Goalie Dylan Reny made 14 saves for Monmouth, while Andy Hatt earned the victory on seven saves for Wiscasset.

Georges Valley 4, Winthrop 2

WINTHROP – Angel Olivares scored twice to lead Georges Valley to a 4-2 victory over Winthrop.

Mike Eutis and Elijah Sprague also scored for the Buccaneers (2-0) to round out the final tally. Mike Platt made eight saves to notch the win.

The Ramblers (0-1) received goals from Tim Gingras and Dave Zimmerman. Mike Gingras turned back 13 shots in net for Winthrop.

Mt. Abram 3, Mtn. Valley 0

RUMFORD – Ronald Cabe scored the game’s first goal on a throw-in and Chris Smith scored a pair of goals to lift Mt. Abram to a 3-0 victory over Mountain Valley.

The Roadrunners (2-0) dominated the possession of the ball and took a 1-0 lead into the midpoint, when Cabe scored on a throw-in that was tipped off the goalie’s hands.

Bryan Canwell made 17 saves in net for the Falcons (0-2), while Wyatt Johnson earned the victory with seven saves.
