In front of me is the Aug. 25 Sun Journal. I read this headline: “Three wounded in Vermont school rampage.” Teachers were there preparing for the next-term classes, so fortunately no students were present.

It seems that a week does not pass without a tragedy of one kind or another from the use of a handgun used intentionally or accidentally by an angry, impulsive person who acts out his anger with a gun – gun rage.

A more concerted national effort is needed to prevent those tragedies. That could be done by restricting the possession of those weapons by a more careful scrutiny of those who try to buy them, a longer waiting period and a license to own one.
