BUCKFIELD – Selectmen voted Tuesday to reschedule the public hearing on the town taking over the Buckfield Village Corp. for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, at the Buckfield Junior/Senior High School.
The change was necessary because there is an open house at the school Sept. 12.
After the hearing, a decision will be made on whether to send the issue to a referendum Nov. 7.
The corporation has requested a rate increase that would have its customers paying the highest rate in the country. The hike is to cover more than $1 million in debt incurred to build a filtration plant for the North Pond water supply.
The board voted to have its regular meeting at 6 p.m. before the hearing.
The Buckfield Village Corp. will meeting immediately after the hearing to elect new officers. Chairman Chuck Barnes has resigned because he is moving to Hartford.
A Planning Board informational gearing on the Comprehensive Plan is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, in the high school auditorium.
A public hearing on a proposed revision to the Hallie Hill Estates subdivision is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11. The subdivision is near the Buckfield-Hebron line on Route 124, and the hearing concerns adding a lot.
