AVON – Monte A. Jackson, 53, of Avon, died Wednesday, Sept. 6, doing what he loved, working in the mill that was his life, for the Cousineau family, of whom he thought the world of.
He was born May 20, 1953, in Avon, a son of Ray A. and Glenis E. (Bachelder) Jackson. He was a graduate of Mt. Abram High School, Class of 1971.
After graduation he began working at Starbird Lumber and Timberland. He continued at the mill after its acquisition by the Cousineau family, with great dedication.
On Sept. 2, 1972, he married the former Julie M. Howard in Avon. He was a member of the North Franklin Snowmobile Club. He will be remembered by his family and friends as an avid outdoorsman, loving to hunt, fish and go camping. He enjoyed watching Tracy Gordon race, farming, his tractor and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his mother of Avon, he is survived by his loving wife of more than 34 years of Avon; two daughters, Kory Roderick and her husband, Travis, of Avon and Laura White and her husband, Derek, of Phillips; four sisters, Deborah Sweetser and her husband, Burchard, of Phillips, Mavis Gensel and her husband, John, of New Vineyard, Anne Jackson of Avon and Robin Ellicott and her husband, Charles, of Avon; a brother, Rocky Jackson and his wife, Marjorie, of Farmington; five grandchildren, Chelsea, Isabel, Olivia, Nathan and Lindsey; his father-in-law, Fred Howard of Avon; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and in-laws.
He was predeceased by his father.
