LEWISTON – Amanda Sue Herrick, 26, of Oxford, formerly of South Paris, lost her courageous battle with cystic fibrosis on Friday, Sept. 8, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

She was born in Norway on Jan. 30, 1980, the beloved daughter of William and Holly Danforth Herrick. Amanda attended school at the Agnes Gray school and later graduated from Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School in 1998.

Amanda enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether it was camping, four-wheeling or snowmobiling. She was an avid thrift store shopper, often to the benefit of her niece and nephews. When her illness forced her inside, she spent time with her cats and guinea pig. Many people weren’t aware that she was a talented artist, often sketching scenes from her hospital bed during stays at CMMC.

She is survived by her mom and dad of Oxford; maternal grandmother, Olive Danforth of Oxford; a sister and her husband, Maria and Kevin Berriault Sr., of Oxford; her pride and joy, a niece and nephews, Charley-Jean, Timmy and Kenny Hilligoss, all of Oxford; a special brother, Tim Hilligoss of Norway; close friend, Michael Roakes and his son, Damian Roakes, both of Otisfield; and many uncles, aunts and cousins. Amanda was blessed to have known many friends through her life.

She was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Wilfred Danforth Sr.; paternal grandparents, Adna and Maude Herrick; cousins, Mathew and Atalie Danforth; aunt and uncle, Ann and Harold Thayer; and uncles Chet Herrick and Michael Clark.

Her family wishes to thank her care providers on T3 and CCU at Central Maine Medical Center for their exceptional care, love and support. Special thanks to Shelley Stone for all she did above and beyond her job. Thank you also to Kim M. from Androscoggin Home Health for all she has done over the years.

Amanda, we want you to know that we loved you from the moment we met you, and we will love you till we meet you again. For we have returned our angel to heaven.
