RUMFORD – Leo B. Goodwin, 82, formerly of Somerset Apartments, died Friday, Sept. 8, at Rumford Community Home following a long illness.

He was born in Rumford on Sept. 27, 1923, a son of Dennis and Sadie Goodwin.

Leo was educated in Rumford schools and was a graduate of Stephens High School.

He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Leo was employed for many years at the former Boise Cascade Paper Co. in Rumford, in the color plant department.

He was a communicant of St. Athanasius and St. John Catholic Church.

He was a life member of the VFW, member and past president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the American Legion and the Le Paresseux Snowshoe Club.

Leo enjoyed spending time with his friends at the VFW and playing cribbage.

He is survived by his son, David A. Goodwin and companion, Barbara, of Rumford; a granddaughter, Susan Goan and husband, Ryan, of Standish; and two great-grandchildren, Avery and Emerson Goan.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Joyce Twitchell, and his second wife, Barbara Palmer; two sisters, Sheila Crowell and Kay Paul; and two brothers, Dennis and Basil Goodwin.
