What could be wrong with a little fantasy and wonderment? The idea of an unknown, un-named “beast” living among us has sent us searching the Internet, reading the paper and watching the news.
Suzanna Gallant suggests in her letter of Aug. 31 that our energy should be better spent worrying about what is wrong with society and trying to fix it. While I believe Gallant means well, perhaps we need a little distraction from the ills of society that she speaks of.
The “beast” has people talking, learning and sharing stories. When was the last time the “water cooler” talk was so animated?
We have learned about DNA, scientific testing, and heard about Native American folklore and stories. Perhaps, for just a moment, each of us has taken a moment to let our mind wander toward the unknown.
We are curious by nature. We seek answers to what we don’t understand.
Honestly though, secretly, in places you don’t want to talk about, deep down, wouldn’t it be nice if we never found out what the “beast” really is?
