SOUTH PORTLAND (AP) – A state health administrator was arrested over the weekend at the Maine Mall after police responded to a complaint that he was videotaping girls without their knowledge.

Reinhold Bansmer, 50, of Augusta was charged Saturday with violation of privacy, a misdemeanor, and transported to the Cumberland County Jail, police said.

Police seized Bansmer’s video camera and said more charges may be filed after its contents were inspected.

Bansmer is director of the Division of Chronic Disease at the Department of Health and Human Services and is a former director of the Maine WIC Nutrition Program.
