Clothing sale

HARTFORD – The Hartford Community Church will hold a used winter clothing sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at Goodwin’s on Route 4, North Turner. All proceeds will go to the deacon’s fund for the community.

Final sale

WATERFORD – The final indoor yard sale of the season, with 30 percent off the total purchase, will be held from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, in the Wilkins Community House basement at the foot of Plummer Hill Road. Trap shoot

OXFORD – The Lake Thompson Fish and Game Club will hold its annual running deer and trap shoot from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17, at the clubhouse and shooting range, Paine Road, East Oxford.

Prizes will be awarded for winners of individual shooting rounds. The clubhouse kitchen will be open for refreshments. Rain date will be Sunday, Sept. 24. For more information, contact Art Bellwood at 539-2322.

Tai chi classes

NORWAY – Beginner tai chi classes will start Monday, Sept. 18, at Stephens Memorial Hospital. The beginner class will meet from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Mondays. The classes will be taught by Betsey Foster, MPH, who has studied tai chi since 1988 and taught since 1993. She studies with Dr. Yang, Jwing-ming in Boston. Society election

WEST PARIS – The West Paris Historical Society will meet Monday, Sept. 18, with a potluck supper at 6 p.m. and meeting at 7 p.m., followed by election of officers and squaring the hall away for fall. For more information, call Ted Jones at 890-3802.

Classes open

PARIS – Oxford Hills Adult Education still has openings for a variety of classes beginning this month. There are also openings in the high school diploma, General Educational Development and college preparation classes. To register, stop in to the adult education office at the high school or call 743-8842, press 1.

Grange supper

BETHEL – Alder River Grange will hold a public supper at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at the grange hall.

The menu will include turkey with all the trimmings. Cost is adults, $6; ages under 13, $3.

Suicide awareness

PARIS – A Suicide Awareness Program, open to the public, will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, at the Paris Fire Department on Western Avenue.

The presentation is designed to heighten awareness about the incidence of suicide in Maine, provide knowledge about the risk factors for suicidal behaviors and the warning signs that youth-at-risk display, teach skills to intervene with suicidal youth and provide resources where suicidal people can get help.
