BOOTHBAY – All six of Winthrops’ forwards scored a goal as the Ramblers posted a 6-0 win over Boothbay in a MVC field hockey match-up Monday.

The well-dispersed scoring effort was started by Meghan McCarthy and Lauren Bergeron in the first half of the game. Brianna Tupper, Kristi Zimmerman, Brittany Gaudet, and Erika Giles each tallied a goal in the second half of the contest to help cement the Ramblers (3-1) win. Malerie Dooling was credited with two assists.

Winthrop keepers’ Sarah Giampetro and Emily Vickerson stopped seven and eight shots, respectively. Brittany Dickinson made a solid 24 saves for the Seahawks (1-3) effort.

Wells 3, Gray-NG 0

GRAY – Abby Fenstermacher scored back to back goals in the second half of the game as Wells topped Gray-New Gloucestor 3-0 in field hockey on Monday.

Kaleigh Chase started off the scoring for the Warriors (3-0-1) with a goal early on in the contest. Wells led G/NG (0-5) in shots on goal, 21-5, and in corners, 14-5. Taylor Goodale turned away just three shots to preserve the win for Wells, while Bethany Haines made 12 saves for the Patriots.

Mtn. Valley 0, Jay 0

JAY – In a fast-paced field hockey game between Mountain Valley and Jay, neither team could find the back of the net and drew to a 0-0 tie after two overtimes.

The two teams were evenly matched in the midfield, and both had several opportunites to score, but couldn’t seem to put one past either aggressive goalie. Kim Clark was solid in net for Mtn. Valley (1-2-1) with five saves, while the Tigers (3-0-1) Brenda Allen turned aside seven shots.

St. Dom’s 2, Old Orchard Beach 0

OLD ORCHARD BEACH – Erica Van Der Werf scored a goal and an assist to lead St. Dom’s to a 2-0 win over Old Orchard Beach in WMC field hockey action Monday.

The Saints (4-0) lit up the board first when Amanda Mayette converted a feed from Van Der Werf and Mary Lewis at 16:04 of the first half.

The Saints dominated the Seagulls (1-3) throughout the contest, oupacing Old Orchard Beach with a 28-1 margin in shots. Goalie Kristy Geaumont had 26 saves the the Gulls, while Austyn Carolin repelled one for the Saints to earn the shutout.

Lisbon 8, Georges Valley 1

THOMASTON – Amanda Stevens and Kelly Bourgoin notched hat tricks as Lisbon rolled to an 8-1 triumph over Georges Valley in MVC field hockey action Monday.

The Greyhounds (2-2) adjusted to the slow-paced game in thick grass by executing a well defined passing game to take a 3-0 lead at the half. Christy McAuliffe and Kelsey LeGlohec also contributed goals for Lisbon. Lauren Pinkham scored the Buccaneer’s (0-4) lone goal in the second half.

Georges Valley goalie Sam Buchanan saw a flurry of shots, making 33 saves. Rachel Beal and Monica Lakin shared goalkeeper duties for Lisbon, turning away seven shots for the combined winning effort.

Telstar 0, Hall-Dale 0

FARMINGDALE – Courtney Mills evened up the game at 26:02 of the second half and no one scored over the next 42 minutes, including overtime frames, as Telstar and Hall-Dale finished in a 2-2 tie in MVC field hockey action Monday.

The Rebels (0-3-1) came out strong as Josie Reiss and Bailey Davis notched a pair of early goals.

Katie Frett cut the deficit in half for the Bulldogs (2-1-1) to go into the break just one goal down.Telstar goalie Brianna Douglass made 10 saves, while Alyssa Withee tallied 12 for Hall-Dale.

Soccer

Greenville 3, Rangeley 1

GREENVILLE – Abbie Pelletier netted a pair of goals, including the game-winner, to lift Greenville to a 3-1 victory over Rangeley in EWC girls’ soccer action Monday.

Hannah Breton drew first blood for Greenville in the first half as the Lakers (4-0) took a 1-0 lead into the break. In the second half, Pelletier piloted a cross from Breton into the cage at the left post from 18 yards out for the eventual game-winner.

Rangeley goalie Krista Jamison saw plenty of action as she made 28 saves for the Lakers (2-2).

St. Dom’s 0, Waynflete 0

WAYNFLETE – St. Dom’s and Waynflete drew to a 0-0 tie in what proved to be a hard fought battle in a WMC girls’ soccer match-up Monday.

The game went back and forth between the two teams, with Waynflete dominating in shots, 12-5. But St. Dom’s (1-1-1) defense was unmovable, and the Flyers (1-0-1) were unable to capitalize on their scoring chances. Elise Applegate led the Saints defense, stopping five shots.

Buckfield 5, GPC 0

PORTLAND – Goalkeeper Amy Reuter turned aside 11 shots to preserve a shutout victory for Buckfield, 5-0 over Greater Portland Christian.

Ashlee Hamann had two goals and an assist to spark the undefeated Bucks (4-0-1), and Alyssa Henderson chipped in with a goal and two assists. Lindsay Henderson scored a pair of goals, including a long shot to the right corner from just inside the 18 at the beginning of the second half.

Rebecca Gagnon stopped 22 shots in net for GPC (0-3).
