LEWISTON – Charles O. “Charlie” Gosselin, 79, of Lewiston and Marco Island, Fla., passed away Sept. 12, at CMMC after a long illness.

He was born in Lewiston on Jan. 21, 1927, the son of Richard and Alma (Giguere) Gosselin. He was educated in Lewiston schools and graduated from St. Dominic High School in 1946.

On June 27, 1953, he married Georgette Plourde, his devoted and loving wife. After graduating, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was employed at Clark Shoe, and served as Lewiston’s Ward 1 Alderman in the early 1960s. He was director of the Health and Welfare Department of Lewiston.

After that, he was director of outpatient services at St. Mary’s Hospital until 1973, at which time he became director of Intown Manor, retiring as co-owner in December 1986. He enjoyed spending time with his family, spending winters with his wife at Marco Island, Fla., where he was also active as past president of the Beachview Condominium Association.

They enjoyed walking along the beach and being in the company of friends. His hobbies included golfing and participating in local antique automobile shows. He was a life-long member of St. Peter and Paul’s Church in Lewiston, as well as an active member of San Marco Catholic Church in Marco Island, Fla.

He is survived by his wife, Georgette, of 53 years; his daughter, Ann Iannarone and her husband, Michael, of Greensboro, N.C.; his son, Ron and wife, Debra, of Lewiston; another daughter, Susan Perry and her husband, Mark, of Litchfield; grandchildren, Jennifer Meger, Sean Moore, Jason Gosselin, Sara Roderick, Joshua and Ethan Perry; as well as three great-grandsons.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Bertrand and Hal; as well as an infant sister.
